Guárico producers report more than 180 hectares of sorghum cultivated

Currently, 180,000 hectares of sorghum are being produced in the state of Guárico, an item that had not been cultivated in the country for more than 15 years, said the president of the Confederation of Farmers and Livestock Farmers of Venezuela (CONFAGAN).

In statements collected by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), Alvarado explained that in order to boost production in this sector and the agricultural sector in general, alliances have been established with Brazil, China and Türkiye.

He also emphasized that this category can be used both for human food and for livestock, while affirming that the basis of the country's economic revival is in planting and field work.

Sorghum is a type of nutritious cereal that resists drought and is gluten-free, which has its origins in Africa.
