The digital media outlet Público GT described as “decaffeinated” the X Summit of the Americas, to be held in December in Punta Cana, to the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

In his column, writer Miguel Ángel Sandoval pointed out that Mexico and Colombia will not attend either, and warned that the event is shaping up to be an anticipated failure.

He criticized the lack of dialogue and described the measure as anti-democratic, in addition to contradicting the multilateral nature of the forum, Prensa Latina reported.

Sandoval also highlighted the international support for Cuba in the United Nations (UN) and questioned ignoring its diplomatic trajectory while valuing the position of Mexico and Colombia that rejected the exclusions.
