In a strong demonstration of unity and
patriotic conscience, the working class of Guiana rallied massively to unanimously condemn the kidnapping of the constitutional president
of the
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the first female combatant, Cilia Flores, by the U.S. government.
Gate III of the Orinoco Steel Plant (SIDOR) was the
scene where workers expressed their rejection of this attack on national sovereignty, demanding
the immediate release of the presidential couple.
The event was led by the Minister of Ecological
Mining Development and president of the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG),
Héctor Silva, together with the governor of the state of Bolivar, Yulisbeth García, the
mayor of the Caroní municipality, Yanny Alonzo, authorities of the Corporation, presidents of basic industries and various social movements.
During the day, Roger Guerra, a SIDOR worker,
highlighted the cohesion of basic businesses: “From this glorious Gate III,
all the companies that make up the CVG demand the release of our
president and the first female combatant.” It also ratified the absolute and
unrestricted support of the workforce for the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.
For her part, Hetmaris Amundarain, a worker at Briquetera
del Orinoco, led a moment of prayer in honor of the martyrs and
families affected by the events of last January 3, paying tribute to those who have defended national sovereignty at critical moments.
The governor of the state of Bolivar, Yulisbeth García, recalled
that the siege against Venezuela has been a historic constant. “This town has
resisted year after year under the legacy of our eternal giant, Hugo Chávez,
” he said. In the same way, he sent a message of support to the president in charge
Delcy Rodríguez: “We have all our trust in you,” he remarked.
Minister Silva recalled President Maduro
's visit to Gate III in 2024 and described the January
3 action as a “cowardly act” of the empire. Silva, who also
heads the Mining Engine and Basic Industries, assured that the working class will not stop: “
No one doubts here, no one betrays here. We are
courageous men and women who will give everything to continue making progress in the recovery and
production of our resources, which belong exclusively to the Venezuelan people.”
