With the preparation of a 33-meter-long mega-hallaca, the population of the Bella Vista sector, Juan Ignacio Montilla parish in the Valera municipality, Trujillo state, celebrated its three decades of history and flavor.
Roberto Briceño, member of the organizing committee of Hallacazo Bellavistero, recalled that this initiative, created by Alfredo “Coco” Suárez, began as a game in one of the villages of Bella Vista with a one-meter hallaca, which has currently become a 33-meter gastronomic icon, containing olives, capers, garbanzos, chayote, pickles, beef and pork, in addition to the characteristic flavor of Trujillo hallacas.
The governor of Trujillo, Gerardo Márquez, highlighted that this was the biggest find in Venezuela and recognized the work of the organizers, local residents and organizations that accompanied the Christmas culinary initiative.
“Hallacazo Bellavistero 2025, a beautiful tradition that dates back more than three decades. Today, in the best Andean style and flavor, the largest hallaca in Venezuela, 33 meters long, has been prepared, once again surpassing its own record, as every year, adding one more meter of flavor and unity. My sincerest gratitude to the organizers, neighbors, cooks and the entire Bella Vista community, who with effort, passion and commitment make possible this meeting that already transcends our borders and enhances Trujillo's pride,” he said.
The preparation of the hallaca involved the collaboration of public and private institutions, as well as families and inhabitants of the community, who provided the necessary supplies. During the day, residents and organizers came together to prepare the dish, while the attendees enjoyed live music, sports and cultural activities.
The stew was prepared for nine hours the day before. Later, the 33-meter halaca was taken to the cooking area, to then be tasted by those present, reports Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) on its website.
