The Venezuelan delegation that was in the first half of the Central American and Caribbean School Games held in Córdoba, Colombia, returned to the country this Thursday with a large sum of 119 medals, of which 53 are gold, placing the country in first place in the overall medal table.
The national team that arrived this Thursday at Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía International Airport was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of High Performance, Henyelbert Herrera, who expressed his pride in the achievements achieved:
“We want to congratulate this entire delegation, which has won 53 gold medals in this first round of return, 119 medals in total. On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro and Minister Franklin Cardillo, we extend our congratulations to the seven disciplines that return with excellent results. We remain firm with the objective of remaining first in the medal table and becoming champions,” he said
The Deputy Minister also highlighted that a second group of athletes are already competing in disciplines such as weightlifting, karate and women's volleyball, with high expectations of continuing to win medals.
Venezuela leads the medal table in the School Games with 53 gold, 38 silver and 27 bronze (118), followed by Colombia with 39 O, 30 P, 34 B (103) and Mexico with 13 O, 28 P and 29 B (70).
