The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced that after the hostile actions of the government of Trinidad and Tobago against Venezuela, energy cooperation agreements with that nation are suspended.

“Faced with the proposal to denounce the energy agreement that was signed between the two nations with great enthusiasm years ago for the development of the shared gas blocks that Venezuela has with Trinidad and Tobago, because that country ran out of gas and we, in our Bolivarian spirit, have maintained, but in the face of the Prime Minister's announcements to turn this nation into an aircraft carrier against Venezuela and South America for the United States, there is only the option of suspension. immediate of all agreements on energy matters and everything agreed on that matter,” said the Head of State.

In this regard, he stressed that as President of the Republic he has the power to denounce and sign this precautionary measure to suspend the binational agreement.

“I am referring the constitutional consultation to the Council of State, the Supreme Court of Justice and the National Assembly to receive the recommendations of the case to take a structural measure very soon,” said the National President.
