The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, said this Friday, December 19, that the Chuquisaca Decree, created by El Libertador Simón Bolívar, is the first environmental and environmental action in the history of international and Latin American public law.

In this sense, he argued that Bolívar “was not only that man of great military exploits, he was also the genuine founder of a true civilizational change aimed at the future and in a revolutionary philosophy and spirituality.”

This was stated in Vinicio Adames Park, in the Hoyo de la Puerta sector, Miranda state, as part of the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Chuquisaca Decree.

“Today is a very special day, it's always a special day when it comes to Bolivar. I had been talking since yesterday, excited for this day, for this event (...) in permanent action, activating the constituent force of the environmental, conservation, environmental and ecosocialist movements in Venezuela,” he said.

He also indicated that Bolívar not only achieved this achievement in a titanic effort unique in human history, but also “political independence, the break with slavery and colonialism of 300 years in our America.”
