The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, described as a historic and systemic failure the anti-drug policies of the United States (USA), which he maintained have only served as a pretext for military interventions in various parts of the world.

The National President pointed out that the American population no longer wants more military interventions because they are tired of what imperialism has done in countries such as Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

In this regard, he stated that in those countries intervened by the United States “they have not solved the problems they promise to end and they have only been responsible for intervening in the internal affairs of other countries under the excuse of the fight against drug trafficking.”

He denounced that the so-called war on drugs has been, is and will be a failure and stated that “they have sickened American society (...) and it is the society with the highest consumption of drugs, of all kinds, in the world.”
