The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) intercepted two ships used for drug trafficking from the United States, which entered Venezuelan territory, thus exercising national sovereignty and demonstrating the State's commitment to combat criminal gangs that attempt to operate in the nation.

He emphasized that Venezuela exercises its sovereignty 24 hours a day throughout the territory. “Today, we have neutralized two drug trafficking planes, coming from the north. Our military aircraft acted in accordance with protocols and international law,” he said.

This was stated in the Brisas de Petare sector, during his visit to the Comuna De Cara al Rio, where he evaluated the actions and works promoted by Popular Power, as a model of self-government and productive development.

It also confirmed that mercenaries from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have been captured, who were planning to attack the United States' own ships.

The head of state asserted that the objective of this act was to blame Venezuela to justify an escalation or a confrontation between sister peoples.
