The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, confirmed on Monday the importance of cooperative relations with the People's Republic of China, and highlighted the progress of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the South American country with the example of the Asian giant.

“The experience of China has been an experience that has enlightened many countries in the world (...) We have been maturing well. The Special Economic Zones Act was passed. Venezuela's Special Economic Zones are progressing at a good pace and we are guaranteeing investments from several countries around the world,” said the Head of State during a new broadcast of his Con Maduro+ program.

He stressed that the Chinese are the big leagues of Special Economic Zones for development and I give as an example the city of Shenzhen, which “in less than 30 years became the technological vanguard in Asia and I can tell you one of the technological avant-gardes in the world and a supermodern city, with productive elements”.

In this regard, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, offered an assessment of the visit of a Venezuelan delegation to the Asian country, which she described as “a great success”.

“We permanently have high-level delegations in the People's Republic of China. In this case, the superintendent of Special Economic Zones and Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Johan Álvarez, took the baton, who was visiting different regions in China to see the experiences,” he explained.

He highlighted the commercial exchanges, cooperation, technological assistance, assistance in academic training in different fields, which “continue and have not stopped despite the complex situation that the planet is experiencing today”.
