“What I am going to say is out of my own knowledge, out of my own experience in these years of struggle: savage and extreme capitalism cause social upheavals and in Venezuela it has caused more than one bloodbath.”
This was stated by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, during the meeting he held with international companions who are in the country to testify about the presidential elections that will be held this Sunday.
After giving a historical account of the massacres committed by the governments of the Fourth Republic against the People who were protesting against the application of neoliberal plans and corruption, the National President did not hesitate to affirm that behind all these criminal actions was North American imperialism.
“From the power of the old oligarchy and then from the bourgeoisies emerging from oil wealth, everyone responded with their different colors and coats in the 20th century everyone responded to the single and hegemonic mandate of North American imperialism,” he said.
He also recalled that despite the atrocity of these events, Western international organizations were keeping complicit silence because they were governments that favored the elites and imperialism and its European allies.
“There were more than 5 thousand dead ambassadors, and there was no UN, OAS, Almagro or any of that garbage at the time that said anything (...) The garbage dump where there was silence (...). There was no statement from the European Union either saying 'we are concerned about the violence in Venezuela', no, they covered everything up!” , he noted.
In this regard, he stressed that the Venezuelan people knew how to resist these attacks and today they defend the Bolivarian Revolution that began with the arrival of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez 25 years ago.
