The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, warned this Tuesday that the trade war, initiated by the President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, breaks all established rules.

During the activation of the Telecommunications Engine and New Technologies, the Head of State said that this war “is not the first in the world, it will not be the last. What it does is that it breaks all the rules. Like all wars, they break the rules. This trade, tariff and economic war breaks all the rules that were built for 80 years badly than good.”

He recalled the prophetic words of the Nobel Prize winner in Economics, Joseph Stiglitz, who “said that the neoliberal model was exhausted and that the neoliberal model was not going to work (...) from Venezuela, together with all of Latin America, our Commander President Hugo Chávez raised his voice against the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas)”.

The Dignitary indicated that Stiglitz was already saying that there was a malaise in globalization. “But not only the malaise of those of us who have consciously or unconsciously sought, in some cases, to build our own models to have the right to the future and existence, not to be slaves or colonies of anyone, which is what humanity aspires to in each of the countries and civilizations, but there was also a malaise in those who believed, such as the case of the protectionist sector in the United States, which was cultivated for a long time, always existed, who took advantage of them.”
