The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, in his Con Maduro+ program this Monday, June 23, announced that the country is “just hours away and will be commemorating 204 years since the Great Battle that buried 300 years of colonial rule”.

“On June 24, 1821, Venezuela defeated the most powerful army on planet Earth, the army of the Spanish Empire (...) This date is part of the heroic history of a people called Venezuela, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he said.

In this regard, he explained that “it was a Day of Saint John the Baptist that, with its blessings, the United Liberation Army of Simon Bolivar rode the savanna of Carabobo. They had military superiority and Bolívar, together with the Catire (José Antonio) Páez, together with the Negro Primero (Pedro Camejo), together with the shirtless ones, built a popular army that liberated Margarita, Oriente, and Guyana as a whole, including our Guiana Esequiba”.
