During the installation, this Tuesday, of the III Conference on Insurgent History and Decolonization of Memory, the sectoral vice-president for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, warned that US imperialism is trying to put a “straitjacket” on history to try to rewrite it as appropriate.

From the headquarters of the Simon Bolivar Study Center, in Caracas, Rodríguez explained that the analysis of all trends suggests that in the coming decades, China will be the first world power economically, technologically and even culturally, and the American elites “will not accept to retreat peacefully to a second place.”

That is why, he said, they point to lies and to the generation of conflicts. “In the United States there is a part of society with a high moral deterioration, with a high level of fascism and madness, it's not just about (Donald) Trump, no matter who governs, it's a structural problem of American society,” he argued.

In this context, according to a press release, Rodríguez focused on Venezuela's potential in terms of energy resources and strategic location, necessary elements for the American vision, and asserted that for these reasons they create lies such as the fight against drug trafficking and deploy a military fleet in the Caribbean. However, he clarified that, even if they “try to change the truth”, history “will rise again”.

“They think that the Venezuelan people are going to chicken out and they have fallen into their own trap. They are in their own lie and our role is to make history rise,” he exclaimed.

Rodríguez asked us to reflect on this geopolitical situation and reflect on the role that Venezuela will play in it. “Is it an alternative to align ourselves with the United States and be a colony of them, or will we have the historical consciousness of assuming once again our rightful role? That is the question that everyone must ask themselves today,” he remarked.

The III Conference on Insurgent History and Decolonization of Memory will be held until November 20 at the headquarters of the Simon Bolivar Study Center, in San Bernardino.
