In the last two years, the National Government has rehabilitated more than 1,700 schools and 500 are currently recovering, said the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez.
“This week alone, we have delivered 11 new schools. We have to recover all schools so that they are beautiful, beautiful spaces for our youth. These have to be spaces of peace, sovereignty, science, happiness, curiosity, so I ask them to make a collective effort to improve schedules,” he emphasized while explaining that in the last two years, “mosaic schedules” have been overcome in educational institutions.
On the other hand, Rodríguez pointed out that his office is working to reduce the deficit of specialist teachers in the country. “We have reduced the deficit of specialists by 62%, but we have to bring it to zero. For this reason, we have opened a specialization plan where 220,000 of the 404,000 teachers on the national payroll are being trained,” he said.
Also, during her participation in the great mobilization of education workers to demand the release of President Nicolás Maduro and the first female combatant, Cilia Flores, she drew attention to the need for families and communities to get involved in order to prevent any boy or girl from being left out of the education system due to a family or economic situation.
On the other hand, he stressed that the Bolivarian Government will continue to work to ensure the protection of teachers. “Despite the difficulties, teachers have never left classrooms, never abandoned their children. The truth is that in Venezuela we have teachers with a very high commitment, with infinite love, we have good, committed teachers,” he emphasized.
