The High-Level Commission for the Liberation of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and First Lady Cilia Flores was formally installed on Wednesday.
“We are not going to rest until we achieve the release of Nicolás and Cilia. All our efforts, all our diplomatic, legal, political, human and multilateral capacities will be deployed in this cause of justice and peace,” said Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Commission.
The body is composed of:
- Deputy Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra, son of the president.
- Joseph Gaviria Flores and Joswuald Gavidia Flores, sons of the first lady.
- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Yván Gil.
- The sector vice-president of Culture, Tourism and Communications, Alfred Nazaret Yáñez.
- Deputy Juan Escalona.
- The Attorney General of the Republic, Reinaldo Muñoz.
- Deputy Minister Camilla Fabri of Saab.
- Dr. Larry Davoe, lawyer specializing in human rights and advisor to the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez.
Rodríguez stressed that this kidnapping constitutes an unprecedented act that violates the international order and the legal and political principles established after the Second World War. Consequently, national and international public opinion has been informed that all possible resources will be invested in this process, which is nothing more than the search for justice and the consolidation of peace in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and in the world.
“Sooner rather than later, in this same valley that Cilia and Nicolás love so much, their smile will shine again and we will merge in an embrace with them,” said Rodríguez.
