Historians will gather to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho

From December 7 to 8, historians will gather at the headquarters of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), to hold the International Colloquium “ Ayacucho 1824-2024: Unity, Sovereignty and Peace”.
This was announced by the president of the Simon Bolivar Study Center
(CESB) and president of CELARG, Pedro Calzadilla; the national
coordinator of the History, Memory and Heritage Network, Antonio
Bracho; the president of the National Center for Historical Studies (CNEH), Omar
Hurtado; the director of the General Archive of the Nation, Rosario Soto; the director of the General Archive of the Nation, Jorge Berrueta, and the
secretary of the Historical Observatory of Caracas and
president of the Carmen Clemente Travieso Training and
Research Center of the Mayor's Office of Caracas, Gladys Arroyo.
Barrueta reported that 20
speakers from various countries will participate, including: Peru, Colombia, Panama, Cuba,
Argentina, Spain, Honduras, Mexico and Puerto Rico, who will speak on military, political, social and cultural
aspects of the Battle of
Ayacucho, as well as on the validity of Bolivarian thought and doctrine in the light of current events.
He pointed out that this activity is the closing of
more than 40 cultural and training activities organized at the national level by
the institutions that make up the Insurgent History Movement,
together with the Presidential Commission for the Commemoration of the Bicentennial; the History, Memory and Heritage Network; the Association
of
Latin American and Caribbean Historians (ADHILAC) and the Diploma Course Life and Work of El Libertador Simón Bolívar, organized by CESB.
He invited students, teachers and social science
professionals to register through the link that
will be available on all the social networks of the organizing institutions
.
For his part, Pedro Calzadilla valued the
importance of the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho
as an opportunity to pay tribute to that other liberator who is Antonio José de Sucre.
“Ayacucho is of great value to us
as our Americans, Bolivarians and revolutionaries, because it is above all a
symbol of the unity of Our America,” he said.
This event is part of an agenda of
activities organized on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of this historic event that
ended the War of Independence in the American continent and represented the
realization of the unity project of El Libertador Simón Bolívar.
