Honduras and Mexico will convene a CELAC meeting to support Cuba and Haiti

Last Wednesday, the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, announced that with her counterpart from Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, they will convene a meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to address the issue of migration and support for Haiti and Cuba.

“We will be convening for the month of January a meeting of foreign ministers to address the issue of migration, support the sister republic of Haiti and express our solidarity with the people and government of Cuba,” said the president.

The also Pro Tempore president of the integration mechanism since March 1 of last year, gave no other details of the dates and duration of the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, one of the highest coordinating bodies of CELAC.

CELAC seeks to promote democracy, human rights and the rule of law. It also seeks to better integrate the region into the international arena.
