This Sunday, the voting centers opened in Honduras for general elections in which citizens will elect the country's presidency, 128 seats in Congress and 20 representatives to the Central American Parliament, as well as 298 mayors.
Councillor Marlon Ochoa, member of the National Electoral Council (CNE), asked the media to wait for official results and not to declare winners before the electoral authority issues its part, in the interest of holding peaceful elections and not causing public disorder.
According to a report on the news portal Telesur, Ochoa said that “all the electoral bags were delivered throughout the country.” He emphasized that “no one votes in Honduras other than Hondurans.” He made it clear that “the people must demand the use of the biometric device” and “have the right to participate in public scrutiny” -
