Hotel occupancy was 80% in Nueva Esparta during Carnival

This Wednesday, February 18, the governor of the state of Nueva Esparta, Marisel Velásquez, reported that hotel occupancy was around 80% during the carnival festivities of the year 2026.

“An estimated 42,500 tourists, both domestic and foreign, were deployed in the 11 municipalities of Nueva Esparta. In addition, during these carnivals there were troupes, floats, show bands and that was an excellent show,” said Velásquez during an interview on the Al Aire program.

He also added that recreational and sports activities were enjoyed in municipalities such as Santiago Mariño and Gaspar Marcano, and in Díaz the Las Barrancas Carnival was declared Cultural Heritage.

He also highlighted that, since the 64 Community Circuits, in addition to promoting the development of communities, they also add to the progress of the state of Nueva Esparta both in public service and in tourist areas.

In the same way, he specified that more than four thousand police and military officials were deployed without any news. “Nueva Esparta is a tourist destination par excellence,” he said.

Velásquez said that now in the entity they are also preparing for the holiday of Major Week “where we will have everything related to religion and the reception of national and international tourists.”
