Iberia resumes regular operations with Venezuela this Tuesday, ending the suspension of services in force since November 29. Spain's flag carrier restarts this strategic route with an initial offer of four weekly frequencies (four outbound flights and four return flights), reaffirming its commitment to connectivity between Europe and the Latin American market after receiving the necessary operational guarantees.
The restart of the route took place this afternoon with the departure of the first plane from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Baraja Airport at 01:40 in the afternoon, while the return journey from Caracas is scheduled for 07:00 at night (local time).
According to company sources, this first flight registered a maximum occupancy rate, operating with 275 passengers aboard an Airbus 330-200, reflecting the solid accumulated demand in this air corridor.
The new schedule represents a slight modification compared to the operation before the closing, being at a lower frequency than the five that were offered before the interruption. It should be remembered that the suspension occurred last year following the guidelines of the Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the alerts of the US FAA regarding stability in the southern Caribbean region; however, the updating of the protocols now allows the activity to resume with full guarantees.
With the return of these four weekly operations, Iberia is recovering a key part of its long-haul network, facilitating corporate and family travel between the two nations. The airline will continue to monitor the evolution of the operating environment to evaluate future increases in capacity and to ensure that the connection between Madrid and the Venezuelan capital remains a stable and efficient bridge for passenger and cargo traffic.
