Two Venezuelan citizens were injured by shots fired by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in a residential area of Portland, United States, rekindling controversy over the methods used by federal forces in immigration procedures.

Portland police reported receiving a complaint about a man and a woman being hit by bullets. Upon arriving at the scene, officials confirmed that ICE agents were involved in the operation. A few hours later, an FBI post on the social network X acknowledged the participation of the immigration agency, but the message was deleted without explanation, raising criticism about the management of information by federal institutions, according to a press release from Radio Miraflores.

The case is in addition to another episode that occurred the day before in Minneapolis, where an American woman died after a confrontation with an ICE agent. The succession of events triggered demonstrations in several cities, including protests over the increase in federal operations starting in 2025.

The incident keeps the national debate open about the limits of federal agencies' actions and their impact on community security.
