The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Liam Ramos, a five-year-old boy, in Columbia Heights, raising questions from school authorities, MPR News reported.

The public school district reported that it was the infant intercepted this Tuesday when returning home with his father after attending daycare.
Apparently, the boy would have been used as “bait”, since the agents took him with them and knocked on the door of the house so that they could open them so that they could enter to check if there were other relatives, with the aim of arresting them.

A few hours earlier, ICE agents had captured a 17-year-old boy taking him out of his vehicle. With this case, there are already four minors arrested in two weeks by hooded teams.

Superintendent Zena Stenvik questioned the action and recalled that the Ramos family has an ongoing asylum procedure and has met legal requirements. “You can't classify a five-year-old child as a criminal,” he said.

Attorney Marc Prokosch indicated that the whereabouts of the boy and his father are still unknown, although he believes that they may have been transferred to a center for families in Texas. In addition, he confirmed that none of the detainees had violated immigration regulations.

These events take place in a climate of tension in Minnesota, where protests continue against police controls ordered by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, which have intensified after the death of the poet Renee Good at the hands of an ICE agent.
