IDENNA maintains social protection points in all temporary camps

The National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents Autonomous Institute (IDENNA) remains deployed in the temporary camps set up for the care of victims of the double earthquake with Social Protection Points. This was highlighted by the president of the institution, Soraida Ramírez Osorio, this Thursday, August 20.

During his participation in the program “United in Family for Venezuela”, led by the deputy Carlos Sierra, Ramírez Osorio specified that it is an articulated work in which the entire National Governing System for the Protection of Children and Adolescents participates, accompanied by the Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality and national and international organizations, in what has been called the Global Child Protection Team.

“From day one, what is the point of social protection for boys and girls was established. There we make life with the Governing System and we have been carrying out different tasks. The first thing is to monitor and guarantee the rights of children and adolescents,” said the president of IDENNA.

He added that the deployment was also extended to hospitals, with the objective of maintaining the protection of children and adolescents, as well as harmony “because we are entering a new process of living with the family” following the emergency caused by the earthquake double.

At the Protection Point, there are counselors and advocates providing comprehensive care to those affected, Ramírez said. He specified that the social days have also been accompanied by the Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Aliens (Saime), the National Electoral Council (CNE) and the Civil Registry, which has allowed boys and girls to obtain their identity cards for the first time.

*The IDENNA and the LOPNNA*

During her participation in the program, the sociologist stated that there is often confusion among the population between what is the Organic Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (LOPNNA) and the IDENNA. Faced with this, he clarified:

“IDENNA is the Autonomous National Council Institute for the Rights of Children and Adolescents and in accordance with our Organic Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, we are the governing body of the entire protection system.”

He stressed that, often, “people say: 'let's go to LOPNNA'. So, it must be explained that, the LOPNNA is the Organic Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, that there is a governing system of protection that is headed, of course, by IDENNA, and then come the Municipal Rights Councils, the Protection Councils from, from the administrative order.”
