This Friday, Francisco Luis Correa, one of those involved in the crime of Paraguay's anti-mafia prosecutor, Marcelo Pecci, was murdered in a cell in the La Picota prison in Bogotá, as reported by Colombian media.
Sputnik, citing Colombian police sources through its website, explained that Correa was killed with a knife in the prison where he was being held in the last few hours,
The deceased was considered the mastermind of the murder of Marcelo Pecci, which occurred in May 2022 on an island near Cartagena de Indias. Correa had been collaborating with the Public Prosecutor's Office in exchange for a reduction in his sentence.
The crime took place in cell 25 of pavilion 32 of La Picota, located in the south of the Colombian capital, where Correa Galeano, 45, was attacked with a knife early this Friday morning in one of the common areas of the prison, after being transferred from the bunker of the Public Prosecutor's Office where he had previously been held.
In May 2024, a Colombian court had sentenced Correa Galeano to six and a half years in prison, after reaching a collaboration agreement with the Public Prosecutor's Office, in which he admitted his responsibility for the murder of Pecci and promised to make reparations to the victims.
Correa had transferred the weapon used in the murder of the Paraguayan prosecutor, who was attacked by assassins in front of his wife, Claudia Aguilera, during their honeymoon on Barú beach on May 10, 2022.
