On July 24, 1983, Commander Hugo Chávez, together with a group of soldiers from the National Armed Forces, founded the Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement 200 (MBR-200), in honor of the bicentenary of the birth of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.
The MBR-200 was also created because of the internal discontent generated by the neoliberal policies that repressed the People during the governments of the Fourth Republic.
In addition, this political organization rescued the thinking of Simón Rodríguez, Simón Bolívar and Ezequiel Zamora, where on February 4, 1992, the soldiers of the MBR-200 together with Commander Chávez set out on the path against neoliberalism.
Once again, on November 27, 1992, another civic-military action inspired by the same ideals took place and was also stifled. However, the days in power of Carlos Andrés Pérez were numbered and he was dismissed for corruption at the hands of his own party colleagues in the National Congress in 1993.
On April 19, 1997, the MBR-200 decided to launch the candidacy of Commander Chávez, however, on October 21 of that same year, the Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) was created with the objective of participating in the presidential electoral processes of 1998.
It is worth noting that MBR-200 was an important step in the political scene in favor of the People.
