The Judicial Reform in Mexico obtained the majority of the necessary votes in 20 state congresses: Oaxaca, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Durango, Colima, Tabasco, Veracruz, Quintana Roo, Baja California, Morelos, Yucatán, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Campeche, Sinaloa, Guerrero, Zacatecas, Tamaulipas, State of Mexico, Sonora.

In this regard, the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, said that the Judicial Power Reform is good for her country by providing the State with a true independent and autonomous power elected by the People, as stated in the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States.

In Mexican territory, the Constitution establishes that a constitutional amendment is approved when it has a majority of votes in state congresses and, taking into account that there are 32, it must be approved in at least 17 of them.

According to a note from the Telesur Portal, the promoters of the Judicial Reform, the amendment seeks to generate a more agile and efficient justice, with permutations such as the election of judges, magistrates and ministers of the Court through popular vote.

In addition, its promoters argue that among the main objectives is to achieve justice closer to people, in addition to incorporating judges and judges who are more sensitive to social problems.

According to the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, this vote reaffirms the existing democracy in the country, and he also clarified that “the people elect their representatives, the public servants of the three branches of government. That is democracy; not the elites, not the so-called political class, not the oligarchy.”
