This Thursday, the National Assembly (AN) approved in its first discussion the Draft Reform of the Organic Hydrocarbons Law presented by Deputy Orlando Camacho, with the objective of modernizing the legal framework that regulates the country's main industry and adapting it to the new productive dynamics of the energy sector.
Camacho stressed that the proposal constitutes “a bold step towards the modernization of the energy sector, ensuring that oil continues to be the engine of our country's development.” He stressed that true energy sovereignty is not limited to the control of subsoil resources, but to the capacity to transform them into tangible well-being for the Venezuelan people.
For his part, the deputy Jesús Fanía explained that the reform aims to adapt the legislation to the current conditions of the industry and to practices that have already proven effective for the country. “This will be the reform of the Hydrocarbons Law for these new times: times of productive recovery, of a substantial increase in the prosperity of our people and, above all, times of consolidation and deepening of national independence, which necessarily involves the control of our resources,” he said.
For his part, the deputy Miguel Pérez Abad invited us to reinforce the parliamentary debate and to join efforts to enrich the text. “My invitation is that we come to an agreement, to make a greater effort to add value to this bill and to push forward this nation, which has plenty of conditions to be a great nation,” he said.
With this approval in the first discussion, the National Assembly begins the process of consulting and reviewing the legal instrument, which will be submitted to public debate with the productive sectors, specialists and workers of the industry, before the second discussion and possible approval.
