From the Sucre parish in Caracas, the militancy of the red awning is holding grassroots meetings to support the candidacy of Nicolás Maduro for presidential re-election.

“The discussion is totally open, unconditioned and the popular outcry is Nicolás Maduro's nomination for re-election in the next presidential election of 28J,” said Nahum Fernández, head of Government of the Capital District.

He explained that “those who believe they can defeat President Nicolás Maduro today are invited to see the popular grassroots assemblies of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) that have been taking place since last Thursday throughout the country.”

He said that “we have seen a great deployment in the national territory. We are talking about more than 14,000 places where our people are concentrated today for a method that has been greatly explained by the National Directorate of the PSUV,” he said.

Fernández concluded that without a doubt “Nicolás Maduro is the candidate of the country's Chavista forces”.
