This Thursday, a technical meeting and geoscientific exchange on the EI Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENOS) phenomenon was held at the headquarters of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH). The event was actively attended by Inameh staff as well as representatives of the Youth of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (JPSUV).

Reidy Zambrano, president of INAMEH, asserted that Venezuela is undergoing climate change and that it is currently in a climate emergency.

“We could say that this is the greatest challenge facing humanity, since the 80s, each decade has been hotter than the previous year, the last decade was the hottest,” he said.

He also recalled that since June 2023, a temperature record has been broken every month, “that completely calls us to reflect. It leads to an energy imbalance and something fundamental that we have been observing, a very high percentage, more than 90% of the radiation is being absorbed by the oceans. “, he said.

He also specified that the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology carries out official monitoring in a very responsible manner to coordinate with that National, local, regional Government and with all the Ministries of the country; in order to mitigate the impact according to the specificity of each one.
