A new Venezuelan vessel, Playa Patanemo, began traveling from Güiria, in the state of Sucre, to Chaguaramas, in Trinidad, and back to Güiria, carrying both passengers and cargo products, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, on its account on the social network Instagram.
He noted that the Playa Patanemo boat made its maiden voyage, which lasts two and a half hours, on the morning of Wednesday, March 27, returning to Güiria the next day, with an enthusiastic group of passengers, mostly Venezuelans.
Playa Patanemo is the result of an alliance between the Venezuelan private company Comercializadora Fapeco and the Venezuelan State, represented by the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA).
In this regard, the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Trinidad and Tobago, Álvaro Sánchez Cordero, said that “we are extremely happy to witness this historic moment in which the Playa Patanemo boat arrived in Chaguaramas on a day as sunny and dazzling as today; thus uniting the peoples and culture of both countries through transport and trade.”
He assured that Venezuela will offer a safe, reliable and comfortable way to travel to Güiria with seriousness and professionalism.
For his part, the vessel's head of operations, Héctor Bompart Núñez, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the initial trip to Trinidad. “For us, this is not just a business, but a comprehensive cultural project,” he said.
“The idea is to promote important areas for Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago, such as commerce, tourism, culture and sports. We want to open Venezuela's doors to the Caribbean,” he stressed.
Initially, the Patanemo Beach boat will travel once a month, but in the near future it will sail every 15 days. This ship has a capacity for 5,000 kilos of cargo and 84 seats for passengers.
Tickets are for sale at the Hammock Travel travel agency, located at 64 Roberts Street in Port of Spain. Each passenger is entitled to 25 kilos of luggage.
