Indigenous communities in Atures received comprehensive medical care

Indigenous communities of San Miguel, Luis Alberto Gómez parish in the Atures municipality, in the state of Amazonas, were treated during a comprehensive medical day organized by the State Department of Health, with the objective of guaranteeing direct care in the San Antonio de Carinagua, Caño Yumena and San Pablo sectors.

Through the social network Instagram, the State Directorate of Health indicated that the operation made it possible to ensure the right to health of the Huottoja, Curripaco, Bare, Baniva, Jivi, Piaroa, Sanema, Yaruro and Yekuana peoples, through land transfers and the action of multidisciplinary teams that provided 112 services in areas such as general medicine, family planning, maternal route, immunization and deworming.

During the activity, nutritional evaluations were also carried out and 40 units of drugs were delivered free of charge, in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of People's Power for Health.

In addition, an information session called “Weaving Knowledge” was held, which addressed the topic of epilepsy from a necessary intercultural perspective. This exchange of knowledge strengthens respect for the traditions of indigenous peoples while integrating conventional medicine. The event also included complementary services such as haircuts to improve the overall well-being of each participant.
