Indigenous communities in Venezuela go to the polls to elect their councilors

This Sunday, August 3, indigenous communities in Venezuela will elect their representatives to municipal councils in 69 municipalities in the country.
The process will take place in the states of Anzoátegui, Bolívar, Sucre, Amazonas, Apure, Monagas, Zulia and Delta Amacuro.
The vice-president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Carlos Quintero, reported that this day fits the forms of organization of the indigenous peoples of Venezuela.
The CNE set up 88 voting centers and 111 polling stations. To reach this stage, the communities held four thousand 61 meetings where they chose six thousand 598 spokespersons, who will meet in general meetings to appoint their representatives to the municipal councils.
Election day has the support and protection of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.
The CNE is scheduled to announce the winners on Monday, August 4.
