“Outside Costa Rica, Edmundo González. We don't want mercenaries, we are a country of peace”, thus begins the statement issued by the International Anti-Fascist Chapter Costa Rica, rejecting the visit of Edmundo González.
According to information published by the Deputy Minister for Latin America, of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Rander Peña, the block issued a statement stating that González is a “character with a criminal record that dates back to the 80s and links it to the worst atrocities committed by the Salvadoran repressive bodies of that time.”
It also points out that “we repudiate the interventionist role of the Costa Rican Foreign Ministry, President Rodrigo Chaves and the 56 deputies of the Legislative Assembly who, together with sinister figures such as Alvaro Uribe Vélez (linked to drug paramilitarism), Benjamín Netanyahu (war criminal and genocidal) or Javier Milei (hungry for the Argentine people), seek to create the conditions for military intervention and a war of looting in Venezuelan lands”.
