The Ministry of Popular Power for Sports and the Venezuelan Wrestling Federation (FVL) launched this Thursday the gold-level Simon Bolivar International Olympic Wrestling League, a competition that will feature the participation of 144 athletes from the League of Antioquia (Colombia), Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama and Venezuela.

At a press conference held at the Oswaldo Borges vertical gymnasium of the National Sports Institute, in Caracas, Minister Franklin Cardillo stressed that among the objectives of the tournament is to offer athletes a high-level competitive stage so that they can make the necessary adjustments on their way to the Olympic cycle heading to Los Angeles 2028.

-"Today a dream is born that for many years we have been working together with the president of the federation, comrade José Barreto, and the entire family of the Venezuelan struggle to be a strategic and fundamental sport for Venezuela's results at the international level,” said the leader of the ministerial portfolio.

“Year after year we have worked not only to do national championships, by categories, by divisions, by weight, by age, but to have a truly high level of preparation and competition, as our President Nicolás Maduro Moros has not requested, who has asked us to prepare in Venezuela, under the best conditions,” added Cardillo.

The competition format will be one of all against all and the winner will be determined by the sum of points. Second, third place and teams will also be awarded, with the latter receiving a cash prize.

In addition, it was announced that the two best athletes who reach the best position will obtain the place to be part of the national shortlist, at the same time they will receive benefits from the Simón Bolívar sports scholarship and permanent attention from Minporte, the IND and the fevelucha.

Wrestling fans will be able to enjoy the broadcast of the championship through MinDeporte's YouTube channel.
