From January to the present date, more than 7 thousand road classrooms have been arranged on a regular basis throughout the country. This was reported by the president of the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTT), Dr. Luis Ignacio Granko Arteaga, on the radio program “Research for Peace”, on MIJP Radio Multimedia. In these spaces, road education talks are provided for drivers, specifically motorized drivers, with the aim of reducing accidents in the country.
Granko said that the INTT, under this training plan, has served more than 20,000 people, who have been given talks on road safety and awareness at tolls, highways, trunk roads, main avenues and Citizen Service Points (PACs) across the country.
Public awareness and coexistence
The contents taught in road classrooms have as their central message to create awareness by conducting and promoting citizen coexistence, while respecting the spaces of each road actor. “Not paying attention to traffic lights, not focusing on vehicles ahead, harming other motoring companions, making U-turns, not respecting traffic signs and speeding are some of the issues addressed in these spaces for reflection,” said the President of the INTT.
In this educational context, the entity is developing a campaign together with the Ministry of Popular Power for Youth, focused on defensive management. This initiative had its first phase in the parish of January 23, where it is taught to respect traffic lights and pedestrian lines, to maneuver correctly on the road and to comply with traffic regulations. These actions follow the instructions of the Sectorial Vice President for Policy, Public Safety and Peace, Captain Diosdado Cabello, in order to minimize accidents among Venezuelan youth.
In addition, the INTT is in the process of activating school patrols under the National Plan “Respect your scratches, don't scratch yourself”, in conjunction with the People's Guard, a program that raises awareness in children so that they can replicate information to their parents.
“When I swear an oath to a patrol boy, I tell them to impose fines on their parents themselves if they see something irregular, such as the misuse of a seat belt or helmet. I make them think that it's better to be a minute late than to lose your life in a minute,” said Granko Arteaga.
These actions are part of the number one apex of the Great Quadrants of Peace Mission, focused on Integral Prevention for Life and Peace, in the context of the promotion of public policies that guarantee road safety, the protection of citizens and the good life of the Venezuelan people.
