Iran captured the American oil tanker, Advantage Sweet, which was in the Persian Gulf following the ruling of the Iranian court in favor of injured patients with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), because White House sanctions prevent access to their medicines, so the country's justice issued an embargo order against the said vessel.

According to the Telesur web portal, those affected with this disease are characterized by extreme skin fragility and mechanically induced blisters.

These complaints condemn that, due to Western sanctions, the medical device company based in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, sells drugs and equipment, including special bandages for EB patients, to Iran, causing them serious physical and mental harm.

It is important to note that the Government of the United States (USA) reinstated its sanctions against the Persian nation in May 2018 after abandoning a United Nations-backed nuclear agreement with the Islamic Republic and five other countries.

Last February, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the seizure of more than 500,000 barrels of Iranian fuel, claiming that they had been illegally diverted to finance the Persian country's paramilitary forces.
