Iranian security forces reported the arrest of several suspects in Tehran and in two provinces, following acts of insecurity linked to organized networks and armed actions.
As reported this Tuesday by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, reported by the Hispantv portal, Iranian security forces were able to identify and dismantle the core of an organized network dedicated to inciting riots in the center of Tehran.
The leaders of the group had recently gathered in busy areas of the Baharestan district, where they encouraged young people and teenagers to participate in acts of public disorder. The authorities indicated that the network intended to redirect economic protests to situations of chaos and violence.
The Intelligence Organization of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution Corps (IRGC) noted that the group's activities had been under surveillance for some time. The suspects were arrested, the corresponding files were opened and were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
In the province of North Khorasan (in northeastern Iran), the prosecutor of the provincial capital, Bojnord, also announced the arrest of members of a seditious organized network with foreign links, accused of disturbing public order and security.
Prosecutor Yavad Elali explained that several members of the group were identified and arrested after coordinated operations carried out jointly by security, police and intelligence forces. The detainees were later referred to the judicial system.
According to Elali, the defendants acted in an organized and networked manner, generating riots and insecurity in different areas of Boynurd. The charges against them include conspiracy and assembly with the objective of undermining national security, disruption of public order, propaganda activities against the country's Islamic system, participation in clashes, destruction of public and private property, and resistance to law enforcement.
