The Iranian Ministry of Petroleum confirmed the discovery of a gas field in Fars province, with an estimated volume of 283 billion cubic meters. The discovery occurred in the Pazan area after the resumption of exploration work, suspended eight years ago.
Exploratory activities focused on the second well of the reservoir, located 21 kilometers from Jam, in the province of Bushehr, facing the Persian Gulf. According to Energy Minister Mohsen Paknejad, the new reserves were identified thanks to exploration activities carried out.
The Energy Minister indicated that the field could start producing in three and a half years. In addition, a horizontal formation with at least 200 million barrels of crude oil was identified, which opens up the possibility of discovering larger volumes, Sputnik reported.
This development is part of the country's efforts to consolidate its energy capacity, in the midst of international sanctions and fluctuations in the production of shared fields, such as South Pars, whose operations have been subject to technical and strategic adjustments.
