Iran reinforces its cooperation with UNESCO in the sustainable management of natural resources

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are strengthening their cooperation in the sustainable management of natural resources, with special attention to water, soil and biodiversity in arid and semiarid areas.

This initiative highlights a shared commitment to strengthening scientific knowledge and institutional capacities in environmentally sensitive regions.

According to the Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, quoted by Telesur, the framework of this collaboration was analyzed in the Islamic Republic during a meeting between Reza Aflatooni, head of the Organization for the Management of Hydrographic Basins and Natural Resources of Iran, and the Secretary General of the National Commission of UNESCO in Iran.

The conversations focused on expanding structured interaction in the educational, scientific and technical fields linked to the sustainable management of resources in the long term.

They stressed the importance of closer coordination between national agencies and international centers affiliated to the above-mentioned world organization.

The plans include specialized training programs, the exchange of technical knowledge and the launch of joint research projects, as well as the preparation of qualified professionals to support sustainable development priorities.
