Iran: The United States constitutes the main threat to international security

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqai, said that the United States is resorting to the use of force against Venezuela and other countries, compromising global stability. He stressed that Washington's actions represent the greatest risk to global security.

Baqai noted that measures based on military coercion are being applied in several regions. In America, he cited the pressures exerted on Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Brazil and Mexico, and described as unprecedented the decision to close a State's airspace, contrary to international aviation regulations.

The spokesperson also referred to the United States' warnings to African nations regarding their participation in the G20, arguing that the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) should examine these practices, as they are incompatible with international peace and security.

He warned that the behavior of the Donald Trump administration generates a model replicated by other actors, with repercussions on all governments. He also denounced Washington's support for Israel, accused of violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Western Asia and of committing crimes of genocide.

The spokesperson stressed that these measures contradict the principles of the United Nations Charter, in particular the prohibition of the use of force or threat. He added that U.S. policy normalizes the violation of international law, with negative consequences on a global scale.

He recalled that, since August, the United States has deployed ships, planes, troops and a submarine in the area, off the coast of Venezuela, which has caused fatalities, especially in the fishing sector.
