ISB celebrates 211th anniversary of the Jamaican Charter and its six years of foundation

In Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, a floral offering was held this Monday on the occasion of the 211th anniversary of the Jamaican Charter and the 6th anniversary of the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity between Peoples (ISB), reaffirming the commitment to Bolivarian thought, the integration of peoples and the construction of a culture of peace and solidarity.

The activity was attended by the ISB authorities: Blanca Eekhout, president of the Institute; Lídice Altuve, vice-president; and Carlos Luis Rivero, executive director, together with his Articulating Council of Social Movements and Communes.

The event also brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps and authorities of the Bolivarian Government, including Jorge Mayo, Cuban ambassador to Venezuela; Yuri Pimentel, Deputy Minister for Africa, and Joaquín Pérez Ay, Deputy Minister for Multilateral Issues.

The commemoration of the Jamaican Charter is an opportunity to vindicate the validity of the thought of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, expressed in this historic document as a vision of unity, sovereignty and independence of the peoples of Our America.

211 years after its legacy, the ISB reaffirms its purpose of promoting peace, solidarity, cooperation and articulation between peoples, from a perspective inspired by the ideals of Latin American and Caribbean integration.

On its sixth anniversary, the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity between Peoples thus confirms its commitment to continue promoting spaces for encounter and collective action together with social movements, communes, popular organizations and peoples of the world.
