This Tuesday, the Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons, an organization that represents most of the families of those kidnapped during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood of the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas, on October 7, 2023, accused the Zionist government of Israel of obstructing negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The families base their accusation on information published in the Israeli press, which indicates that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu decided not to discuss the proposal for a partial ceasefire agreement in Gaza during the weekly meeting of his Security Cabinet.

This proposal, accepted by Hamas on Monday, August 18, is still awaiting an official response from Tel Aviv.

The text of the proposal includes a 60-day ceasefire and the gradual release of hostages still alive in Gaza, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. However, Israel insists on a truce that includes the release of all hostages, both living and dead.

Israelis took to the streets of Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel, where they blocked roads carrying Israeli flags and photographs of the hostages.

Other citizens gathered near the U.S. embassy and in front of the residences of several ministers. Israeli citizens demand an end to the offensive in Gaza and the return of the hostages that remain in the enclave.

The demonstrators accuse Netanyahu of “prioritizing the destruction of Hamas over the release of the hostages” and reject the possible sacrifice of 50 hostages for political reasons.
