Italian oil company ENI will not stop gas production in Venezuela (+talks)

The Italian oil company Ente Nazionale Idrocarboni (ENI) announced that it will not stop producing gas for domestic use in Venezuela.

The CEO of ENI, Claudio Descalzi, explained that the energy company will maintain its production while it continues talks with the administration of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to seek a solution following the announcement of the US government's measures against companies that have agreements with the state company Petrleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA).

Descalzi said that a dialogue was initiated with the United States to find an alternative way that would allow them to operate. In addition, he explained that since Venezuela cannot pay in dollars in cash due to sanctions, “they pay in products, and these products go to the US market,” VTV reports.

Descalzi was also optimistic and added that he will continue with production for the time being, because they have stated: “we cannot stop, because we are the only ones who produce gas for Venezuela a”.
