The third stage of the Vuelta al Táchira 2026, held on a 115.2-kilometer urban circuit in San Cristóbal, offered a clear portrait of the two forces that dominate the race: the explosive youth of Jad Sair Colmenares and the tactical consistency of Enmanuel Viloria.

Colmenares (Mayor's Office of Torbes) claimed partial victory after an outcome controlled by the platoon, in which the escapes never succeeded due to the high pace and the collective work of the main squads, according to a note published on the website of the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.

It should be noted that during the day, Colmenares chose the exact moment to launch his attack in the last laps, imposing power and precision in a sprint that confirms him as one of the emerging names in Venezuelan cycling.

Germán Rincón and Jorge Abreu completed an entirely local podium, reflecting the good form of the national teams and the support of a fan that turned the streets of San Cristóbal into a stage for a sports festival.

In the overall standings, the focus was on Viloria, leader of the Birdman Level Up Team Fam, who smartly defended the yellow jersey. His cumulative time of 13:45:33 allows him to keep an advantage of just over two minutes over Abreu and to keep Ecuadorian Brayan Obando at bay, who is still expectant in the fight for first place.

Colombian Miguel Flórez (Arenas Tlax-Mex) was the highest-placed foreigner of the day, seventh with the same record as the winner, while his compatriot Camilo Gómez (GW Erco SportFitness) remained active in the main group, confirming the usual presence of coffee cyclists in the Tachirense round.

The stage left a tactical lesson: in closed circuits, the key is not in the escape but in the placement and calculation of energies.

The teams protected their leaders and reserved forces for what is coming. The fourth fraction, between La Fría and Mérida (162.9 km), with an uphill finish, promises to be the true mountain test that will test Viloria's strength and the ambition of its pursuers.

The Tour of Táchira, faithful to its tradition, continues to show that two battles intersect every day: the one of the day and the one of the future. Colmenares has already won the first; Viloria, for now, holds the second.
