This Thursday, in the midst of the $LIBRA cryptocurrency scam scandal, Javier Milei signed decree 116/2024 that transforms Banco de la Nación Argentina into a public limited company.
The measure, previously announced by the presidential spokesman, Manuel Adorni, on his social networks, establishes that the State will be the majority shareholder, with 99.9% of the share capital, while the Banco de la Nación Argentina Foundation will have the remaining 0.1%.
The decree signed last Wednesday night before traveling to the United States (USA) establishes the conversion of Banco de la Nación Argentina into “Banco de la Nación Argentina Sociedad Anónima (BNA S.A.)”. Likewise, a model of the Social Statute of the new entity remained.
Banco Nación had initially been on the list of companies that Milei's chainsaw plan planned to privatize. However, during the Basic Law negotiations, Congress excluded him from that list.
