Jeannette Jara, of the Communist Party, will face José Antonio Kast, of the far-right Republican Party, in the ballot of the presidential elections in Chile, scheduled for December 14, after turning out to be the two most voted candidates on election day this Sunday, without either of them reaching enough votes to be the winner in the first round.

Jara won 26.45% of the votes, while Kast came in second with 24.46%. Franco Parisi, of the People's Party, came third with 18.62%, out of the main contest.

Meanwhile, the results of the Congress will be announced in the next few hours. Preliminary projections indicate an increase in representation for the National Libertarian Party.
