The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, said that when he met with the extreme right and former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, he “always expressed an immense desire to go to Spain”.

In an exclusive interview with TELESUR, the deputy specified that González recognized the country's five Public Powers by signing a letter complying with the ruling issued by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which endorses the victory of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

Rodríguez commented that the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, commissioned him to initiate contacts with the interlocutors, while the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, was in charge of the legal part.

“To carry out the task assigned, we held direct conversations with Mr. González Urrutia, telephone and personal conversations (,,,) In fact, he invited us the night before he left Venezuela to talk at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain here in Caracas and at that diplomatic headquarters the letter was signed, which was released in the morning by the national and international press both by him and by me and an exceptional witness”.
