The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, this Thursday demanded that the government of the United States (USA) immediately return Maikelys Espinoza, the two-year-old girl who was torn from her mother's arms by the immigration authorities of the North American country.

“In Venezuela, we raise our voices to demand that Maikelys be returned to us (...) We already had her on the list of Venezuelans who would be repatriated when the plane arrived and for some reason, which cannot be other than the desire for revenge, that hatred, that retaliation, they tore that girl out of her mother's arms and took her away and it is not known where,” Rodríguez lashed during the March for Labor Day, in Caracas.

He recalled that with this action the United States violates the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child, “who have the right to a family, to a home, to peace, to culture, to health, to education, that they have the right to a nationality.”

The head of Parliament specified that this is “a barbarity that we have not seen in the 21st century”, and stressed that they are “doing things similar to what death trains did in Nazi Germany, where families were separated and a father was sent to a concentration camp and a mother and children to others”.

In this regard, he recalled that Maikelys's father is in a concentration camp in El Salvador. “There is absolutely no record of any kind of judicial record for Maikelys's father being kidnapped by Bukele's satrap (...) The 253 young people kidnapped in the concentration camp have committed absolutely no crime in El Salvador or anywhere else,” he stressed.
