The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, urged the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, to apply the Simon Bolivar Liberation Organic Law against the Imperialist Blockade and in Defense of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to all those who have asked for sanctions against our country, so that they pay for this crime in prison.
“We urge that this Law be applied, so that all those who have promoted these actions against Venezuela pay, pay with jail, with disqualifications, with extinction of ownership, so that the full weight of these Laws and other laws approved by this parliament falls on them,” Rodríguez said, referring to the support of ultra-right sectors for the US decision to revoke licenses so that Chevron would continue to exploit oil in the country.
In the same way, during the plenary session of Parliament, he described this decision by the Donald Trump administration as “a shot in the foot” since, among other things, this measure makes it impossible for Venezuela to pay its debts to the US oil company.
“That money that we would pay Chevron in debt will be invested in our industry to produce more oil every day. We wanted to pay but they won't let us,” he emphasized.
In the same way, he highlighted that after this decision by Washington, a large number of oil companies have contacted the National Government to take over Chevron's operations in the country.
He also described as “infinite ridiculousness” these new attempts to stop the progress of Venezuela's economic recovery.
